For so many North Carolinians buying a home is out of reach and renting a place near work is unattainable. I have experienced this first hand as a young adult and not being able to afford a basic apartment in our area on a limited income. This cannot be our future! We have to stop corporate landlords with large capital from coming in and buying up single family homes and neighborhoods. There must be a cap on this especially in Gaston County. Cutting building regulations is not the answer to this crisis. These corporate purchases are cutting into the housing supply and pricing North Carolinians out. Your home should be a source of stability not a burden. I will work to expand homeownership, expand affordable rental housing and reduce homelessness.

I believe there is no greater priority than ensuring our children get a quality and equitable public education to excel in their futures. Currently, this is not happening. North Carolina spends less than nearly all other states on public school funding as a share of our state's economy. This ranks North Carolina 49th out of 50… This is unacceptable! Extreme politicians continue to undermine and underfund our public schools year after year. For far too long so many public educators have not been valued and respected. No public educator should have to work a second job to make ends meet. I will work tirelessly to invest the proper funding into our K-12 schools. Teachers and school staff deserve a liveable wage and good benefits. They are at the forefront of educating our youth. We cannot continue to let highly qualified and skilled educators leave North Carolina, as our youth needs them. I will work to make sure we are investing in our youth by ensuring proper funding for our public education system. No child should ever show up to school hungry. I will work to establish a universal healthy school lunch system. We must give our children access to the tools they need for their future.

North Carolina has a constitutional obligation to ensure all children have access to a sound basic education that includes well trained teachers and school staff, as well as equitable access to sufficient resources. I will work to uphold this commitment.

Every North Carolinian deserves to live in a state where they have the freedom to vote, to make their own healthcare decisions and to live their lives without discrimination. We must stop government overreach to protect our rights. I will fight to end voter suppression, gerrymandering, restrictions on women's healthcare and attacks on LGBTQ+ North Carolinians. In our democracy the people should choose their representatives, not the other way around. Our state should be protecting all North Carolinians not harming them. We all deserve equal rights and protections under the law. I will always stand up for what is right and in the best interest of the citizens of Gaston County and North Carolina.

Working as a paralegal and helping people that have catastrophic injuries has shown me the inequity and the unaffordability of our healthcare system. Healthcare is a human right and not a commodity for those that can afford it. Medicaid expansion in North Carolina has helped in giving more North Carolinians access to healthcare but we still have a long way to go. North Carolina ranks as the most expensive state for healthcare, with the highest average premium for residents with “plus-one” health insurance coverage through an employer. I will work to increase access to affordable, quality health care for all North Carolinians by building on Medicaid expansion and working to get drug and hospital costs under control. We need to increase the number of quality health care providers in rural North Carolina, promote hospital price transparency, and strengthen our mental health, behavioral health, and drug treatment systems.
